Ulaanbaatar 🇲🇳 Founder-Led Manufacturer

From a retired engineer's apartment in Ulaanbaatar to Mongolia's largest e-commerce platform — Uulen crafts organic soaps from sheep tail fat, sea buckthorn, and ganga herb. A founding member of the Mongolia Cosmetics Cluster, this micro-enterprise grew from YouTube tutorials to 24 products and national export catalogue recognition.

Uulen (Үүлэн, “Cloud”) is a Mongolian micro-enterprise producing organic handmade soaps and wellness products from traditional steppe ingredients. Founded in 2018 by Dorjpalam Puntsagdulam, a retired energy sector engineer who learned her craft from YouTube tutorials, the brand has grown to 24 products on Mongolia’s largest e-commerce platform and holds a founding membership in the Mongolia Cosmetics Cluster.

Products and Distribution

Registered as Үүлэн брэнд ХХК in January 2019, the brand operates from Ulaanbaatar’s Songinokhairkhan district. Core products use cold process and hot process methods with locally sourced ingredients — sheep tail fat, sea buckthorn oil, and ganga herb — supplemented by essential oils imported from Russia. The product line expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic to include cold remedy balms and protective sprays. Distribution occurs primarily through Facebook direct sales and market.mn listings, with informal international sales through the founder’s daughters studying in Taiwan and Russia.

Recognition and Export Ambitions

The brand was named in 2021 among five Mongolian companies pursuing EU cosmetics certification and appeared in the MNCCI Exporters E-Catalogue in 2023. Products hold certification from Mongolia’s State Professional Inspection Laboratory.

In April 2023, ownership transferred from the founding registrant to Dashzeveg Gantsetseg. The nature of this transfer — whether family succession, sale, or restructuring — has not been publicly confirmed.
